Compare and contrast industry and political leaders
Putting a face on political power
Project overview
Choose two or three people in a large company. Choose the same number of people (cabinet ministers or senior bureaucrats) in the Ontario government;
Draw tables and charts to compare and contrast what each person does, and what kind of department (private sector) or ministry (government) that each person manages;
Get brief interviews or phone calls with them if you can.
Your report
Put a human face on government and on the private sector;
Tell your classmates in a presentation what kinds of decisions private sector managers make, and what kinds of decisions cabinet ministers make;
See if you can compare the different levels of responsibility, and find out what the executives (private sector) or ministers (government) each earn. Be prepared for a surprise.
