While Premier McGuinty's government advances Ontario,
John & the Tories are stuck in the past
John Tory and his Ontario Conservative party marked the end of another year where they showed the people of Ontario that they are still the same tired Conservative party of the past, that wants to cut money dedicated to public health care and divert public money to private schools.
"While Premier McGuinty has been working hard every day to help Ontario move forward and become an even better place to raise our families, Tory has shown the people of this province that he's still stuck in the past. Tory is only interested in bringing back the ghosts of Premiers past - Mike Harris and Ernie Eves," said John Wilkinson, Member of Provincial Parliament for Perth Middlesex
In 2006 alone, Tory and his caucus voted against:
"Over the past year Tory has told us that he wants to cut $2.4 billion dedicated for public health care, give public money to private schools and stop funding research on climate change. Even Tiny Tim knows that you can't both cut taxes and spend more and still balance the provincial books. Ontarians remember the Premiers of Christmas Past," continued Wilkinson.
"John Tory has been consistent on one thing: he wants to take Ontario backwards to a time when public services were sacrificed for tax cuts, when hospitals were being shut down, when fights with teachers left kids out of school for weeks at a time, and the most vulnerable in society were seen as a prop to score political points."
