Apply for the new "30-percent-off" Ontario Tuition grant
Keeping post-secondary education affordable means helping with tuition fees for the 2012 winter semester. The new grant will ensure postsecondary education remains accessible and affordable. University or college degree students save $800 and college diploma, and certificate students $365 for this semester.
Premier's speech outlines the economic road ahead
Premier Dalton McGuinty's speech to the Canadian Club of Toronto, outlined the challenges facing Ontario, the progress the Province has made, the challenges in balancing the Ontario Budget, and what Ontarians can expect in the years ahead.
Less government red tape for Ontario businesses
Ontario has eliminated more than 80,000 regulatory requirements to cut red tape and make the Province a more attractive place to invest and do business. The HST alone eliminated 5,000 pages of outdated rules, regulations and procedures. The savings to business: $500 million each and every year!
Court costs uploaded. Peel Region saves $9.4 million
Ontario is providing the three municipalities in Peel Region: the cities of Mississauga and Brampton and the town of Caledon with funding for court security. This amounts to savings this year of nearly $9.4 million in the first phase of the program to upload court costs.
Promise kept: tuition grant now available!
During the 2011 Provincial Election, we promised a thirty percent tuition grant for eligible Ontario residents. The grant was passed and eligible students can now apply. You'll get your money within a few weeks of having your application approved. Promise kept.
New Ontario energy and property tax credit in 2011
To assist Ontario seniors, those on fixed incomes, and low- to moderate-income Ontario families with rising energy costs, Ontario will rebate you ten percent of your electricity bill for the next five years, and also introduce a new Ontario Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax Grant with up to $500.
New Ontario Photo ID Card now available in Mississauga!
For non drivers, or seniors who no longer choose to drive, new Canadians who don't need to drive, the visually impaired and others, Ontario now has a recognized photo ID so that you can board a flight, open a bank account, cash a cheque and do many other little tasks without having to haul your passport with you everywhere. It is now available in Mississauga at the ServiceOntario location at the Westdale Mall. Click for more info.
