Contributions to Bob’s Ward 9 Campaign

Campaign donations from individuals are the only way elections are financed in Canada. Corporate contributions are not allowed. Cash donations and anonymous donations are also not allowed. As well, wealthy individuals cannot ‘self-finance’ an Ontario municipal election campaign. This is healthy. It means candidates need to have popular support to run a proper election campaign. Here are the rules for how to contribute to a municipal election campaign like Bob Delaney’s.

Donation eligibility

Election contributions must be made by individual donors who are:

  • Ontario residents;
  • At least 18 years old;
  • Not prohibited from voting by law;
  • Make their election contribution between now and December 31, 2022 (the end of the ‘Campaign Period.’

Best way to make a contribution

  • Write an old-fashioned personal cheque for your contribution amount;
    • Be sure your name and home address are on the cheque;
    • Hand-write your address on your cheque if your cheques are printed with just your name on them;
    • Make your cheque payable to: Bob Delaney Campaign;
  • You as an individual are allowed to contribute a maximum of $1,200 to to the Bob Delaney Campaign, (or to any one candidate), and a maximum of $5,000 to all municipal candidates in any one city that you may wish to support in 2022;
